Facelift surgery is called rhytidectomy; It is a method in which wrinkles and sagging on the face are removed by stretching and lifting. Facelift surgery is usually applied to individuals over the age of 40. However, in some cases, this surgery can also be applied to younger people.

How is Face Lift Surgery Applied?

General anesthesia can be done as well as intravenous sedation (with sedative medicines) and local anesthesia. These kind of operaitons can last between approximately 3 and 10 hours. Generally, patient stays for 1 night in the hospital; patient can be also discharged depending on the current situation. After facelift surgery, mildly visible scars are occur. These scars are hidden in the scalp in the temple area, in front of and behind the ear.

What Is the Postoperative Process Like?

The early postoperative period is usually comfortable. There may be a general swelling and bruising on the face, numbness and a feeling of tension. These recover within 3-5 days. After the surgery, patient can return daily life from the 2nd day. After the first week, when the swelling disappear, she/he can go back to work and put on make-up. Facelift surgery has a permanence of 5-10 years, depending on the person's body structure and environmental conditions. For some people, this process can last a lifetime.
